Modification of Court Orders

Florida circuit judges have legal jurisdiction to modify orders issued in divorce or paternity cases.  When parties divorce in the state of Florida, the Court enters a Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage which is the order that terminates the marriage and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the parties.  When a paternity action has been filed, the Court enters a Final Judgment Establishing Paternity.

There are times when a Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage or a Final Judgment Establishing Paternity may need to be modified or changed.  Only a court with jurisdiction over the case and the parties has the authority to modify a Final Judgment.  A party must meet certain requirements and present appropriate evidence before a judge may modify or change a Final Judgment.
